Advice for someone new

Hey guys, As you may or may not know I am new at photography! I manly take pictures of skating, friends, animals etc.... Although towards the winter season I have to take a short rest from skating. What I am having a hard time doing is finding a way to get my photos more noticed by people who could use them (magazines, companies, etc.) If anyone with ANY experience at all has any GOOD ADVICE I would love to here it.
